Mitsubishi CS-35405 CRT TV

I recently acquired a partly working Mitsubishi CS-35405 Large CRT type TV. I would like to fix it for my grandchildren's video games. I have an electronics background and in fact have recently fixed some Tektronix oscilloscopes including working on the high voltage power supplies.

The TV has an intermittent problem where it sometimes goes to a blue flat line in center screen, but hitting the TV brings the picture back. After taking the rear cover off, I used a long nylon rod (actually my RF tuning screwdriver) to “tap” around various circuits. I found that tapping some components near the HV supply would cause the picture to go crazy. Does anyone have a service manual or schematic?

The components are a coil L451, a capacitor C467 and a transformer T531. Does anyone know the values or commercial part numbers for these?

Thanks, Retired-Fun

Had the exact same problem

Had the exact same problem with my CS-34405. I was able to fix it by doing the following:

1. Opened up the back and vacuumed out several years of dust (be gentle though)
2. Reseated the boards. I think that in my case one of the boards had worked it's way loose which was why hitting the box would sometimes fix the issue. I had a sub not too far from the TV and I think that the bass over time worked some of the boards out of their sockets.

After doing the above I haven't had the blue line problem in a couple of years and before I was getting it every couple of days.

thanks for the reply, I will

thanks for the reply, I will have to try that. Right now I have a question in to the experts about the value of coil L451. It has a red, black and either white or gray rings. The manual lists it as either a 2uh(schematic) or 2MH(parts list) value. When I tap it, the picture jiggles, so I would like to replace it.
