Hi all. This plasma was given to me. I'd like to try and fix it myself. The tv powers on. The best I can describe the symptoms is the screen looks fuzzy and the colors are all psychedelic. I opened it up and the only thing I noticed was two (out of 4) bulging high voltage capacitors on the power supply board. They're the large 1'' 450V kind. Could this cause my problems above? If so I'll try and replace them. Any particular brand cap I should get so this doesn't happen again. Thanks for any insight.
Those caps are quite likely the problem. Use a hi quality replacement, not generic. MCM Electronics supplies a line of hi temp/hi frequency caps that I use. Also check wikipedia
