32" Astar LCD?!?! video shuts off

Please help. I have had a 32" Astar LCD TV for a little over a year and a half. Lately, while watching TV the display goes black but I can still hear the sound. After turning off and then on the TV several times, the picture will appear again for a while before I have the repeat the process again. I do not know squat about televisions. This is kind of irritating because eventually it comes back only to go out again. Please... any advice or recommendations how to fix the issue.
