I have a second hand Sony Trinitron KV-27s22 that I received from my company (we purchase TVs for use in statewide stores).
I picked out one of three available TVs (all known to be completely functional). The three remotes were in a bag and I picked one out at random.
I do not have cable and rely on the basic free channels. I did buy a converter box though I shouldn't need to use it yet.
The TV turns on and starts at channel 4. I am not picking up any reception (all channels are snow), but I figured the TV might be on cable mode. This TV does not have a "menu" button on the front like most TVs. It only allows you to choose English/Spanish, does an auto preset and TV/VCR. The auto preset didn't produce any results and the TV starts on Channel 4.
The remote has new batteries, but it does not seem to work at all with the TV.
Is there a way to access the menu features on this TV without a remote? Is there a way to reset the remote so that it will work with the TV?
Thank you.
I ahve a few options . If you have purchased the converter box already hook it up using the video inputs jacks in the back (yellow - red - white ) . Then push the tv/video button and use your converter box to change your channels. Also you did not mention if you have an outdoor antenna or rabbit ears ? Hopefully you have an outdoor antenna as they work the best . Of course you need some type of antenna . Now you also mentioned your tv starts up on channel 4 . Does it change channels to others channels or only 4 ? If it won't change channels then your set needs to be programmed . If it changes channels but all you get is snow you might have a bad tuner in the set . But using the audio/video jacks in the back of the should stillget you by . Even if your in cable mode you should receive any of your local channels from Channel 2 to 13 . If you have local channels within that range. Programable remotes are sometimes hard to get to work with Sony TV's . I would recommend you check out the website www.replacementremotes.com they should have something to work your set . JSF
