Yikes!!! HL-R5678W

My thoughts are with you - for a speedy recovery... 
I'm quite the novice when it comes to technology/repairs  My Samsung HD just began making a grinding/engine turning type noise.  Although one can make out the image/picture (output), it is certainly not a clear picture.  I have read various blogs/comments which give me the impression it could be light engine(s) or color wheel.  Any suggestions to better determine?  If this is a simply repair, I would consider the effort myself; however, I don't mind having someone repair - I don't want to be taken advantage of....  I would be most grateful for any input.   Regards.
