Sony KP-51HW40 - 4 blinks

Good Morning from a newbie,

I was given a broken Sony KP-51HW40 Projection TV.  When it is turned on, I will momentarily get a red tint, then it shuts down and the led blinks 4 times.  I downloaded a manual and it indicates that the Vertical Deflection stopped.

I'm a electronics mechanic by trade, but typically work on more industrial applications; PLC's and such.  I have very little experience on TV's.  I could use some help and advice.

The manual indicated that the +-15v may not be supplied and IC8003 could be faulty.  Where is the easiest point to check the 15v.  I do have 15v coming out of the "G" board at initial power up, however, it goes away when the TV faults.  Should it be constant?

I did replace IC8003 as the manual stated it could be faulted, though I found it on the "D" board, not the "A" board as the manual listed.  I've also took out and tested Q8001, it seemed to read good.

Well, that's as far as I've gotten.  Am I wasting my time?  I'm not really looking to dumping much money into this thing.  I do have some time I could invest though.  Is it worth any more effort, or should I just toss the unit?

Thanks in advance for any input,

Could be the vertical chip or

Could be the vertical chip or even th G board, I think if the set goes into a protetion state the power supply shuts down. You could also have an intermittant picture tube, try turning down the red screen a litle and see if the set will stay on a little longer, mke sure you test the cap off the vertical b+ feed also.
