Need help with IC's on KP-46WT500

I've got the service manual for this set and when I changed out the IC's I don't remember which traces were applicable to them. For example, from pin 4 on 8002 to the pair of small diodes beside it. Does anyone have a picture of the D-board (close-up), bottom of the board and the specifically the solder points of the IC's 8001 & 8002. I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

Brandon

Hi,

Hi,
I asked a similar question in another tread.   I took pics of my Kp51ws510's  board prior to starting the IC replacement and stupidy did not check the pics before beginning. Too much flash resulted in poor pics but I do have some pics if you would like to see them.

Thank you.

okay I think I'm making

okay I think I'm making progress, finally got some peace and quiet from the 2yr old son and I was able to do all the voltage and cont. testing for the pico fuses, looks like PS5001 (5A) on the G-board and PS8003 (3.5A) on the D-board are bad, however, I read somewhere that you need to unsolder one side, not really sure the idea behind this, seems to me that if you test for continuity, it shouldn't matter whether it's still soldered on or not. Can anyone explain why this would be necessary?

When I checked all the others I got good continuity, but these two showed open circuit, however when I tested in the opposite direction, there was some continuity, but around 7 ohms, and fluctuating. I just desoldered them and got an open circuit on the PS5001 (5A), so I'm just going to replace these two fuses and go from there.

Still wanting pictures if anyone can get them.

Thank you.

I replaced the two pico fuses

I replaced the two pico fuses and guessed at the flashings as best I could, powered it up, checked voltages and it's working great now. Thanks for the help d167! Let me know if you need any for yourself.

Brandon its great to here you

Brandon its great to here you got it working! I was just getting ready to post here that I do not think the solder bridges have to be there. I installed my board a few days ago and all is good, I made no attempt at redoing those bridges.

Hi Guys,

Hi Guys,

I started having the convergence problem yesterday and I found this forum to be the best one disussing it. Can anyone send me the Service manual for KP-46WT500? Also, what are the two ICs I need to replace? where can I order them?

my email is: [email protected]
Thank you so much in advance

Here's the link to the manual

Here's the link to the manual, it's downloadable in the "Resources" section of this website.
http://www.techlore.com/download/22187/Sony-KP46WT500/

The two IC's that need replacing are Sanyo STK392-560, here's a link to a bidding I won for them off of Ebay, it will give you a visual reference. STK392-560

These IC's are located on the main board when you open up your 500, it is quite a bit of work, and it gets pretty meticulous, just make sure you have all the wiring harnesses disconnected, all the mounting screws out, you don't necessarily have to disconnect the two big red wires from the coils, I didn't, I just flipped it over and worked on it just outside the TV. There are some bridges that link two of the boards together, they just pop up. Be very careful when working inside the set, you can break many things, also make sure you're grounded, so you don't short anything out with ESD (electro static discharge).

Also once you're done soldering in the IC's, make sure you check the pico fuses, there's a bunch of 3A fuses just below the IC heatsinks, you'll want to check the continuity of all those, any open's are bad, and the 5A pico fuses on the power board. These, if open, need to be replaced.

Let me know if you need anymore help, I'm sure you'll have more questions, and make sure you ask them before proceeding into unknown territory :)

Good luck.
