I'm looking for Larry who I was referred to from fixya.com experts. They indicated he was very good with these sets. Mine is the VZ7 chasis. It has the convergence chips on the edge of the signal board. Not stand ups like some pictures I've seen on the web. I replaced the convergece chips and still have the same issue. The convergence colors will just split. If I leave the set off for days and then turn it on it will work fine for a couple days. I've resoldiered alot of things around this part of the board. I have heard that you need to replace the feeder or power feeding resistors. But from what I can see in the schematic, I'm not good at this, I think it is the resistors that are microscopic. But I can't be sure. I have the complete service manual so I can look up the parts and be able to find them on the board to replace if somebody can tell me which ones they are. Lately when I turn this set on it just is convergence split so maybe something finally failed. I could try the convergence chips again but I don't think that is it. I don't see any capacitors that look swelled or burned. I did have to replace some other capacitors on the other side of the signal board to fix an issue with some weird lines on the top of the set. And I think the 3D comb filter chip is out. This is if I use the RCA video inputs the whites are over powering. Looks like under a black light. But if I use the S-video the picture is fine. The S-video appears to bypass the 3D comb filter circuit. At any rate that is the history of this set and I need some expert assistance with pinpointing the correct resistors via part number. I can supply the schematic if needed.
