please help !not sure if its a bad convergence ic problem or not. tv wont turn on and i checked codes i get code 21 x-ray protection only . i checked all fuses on both power board and main board all fuses are good!nothing looks bad anywhere on any of the boards. nothing burnt no bad looking caps.when first started relay clicks, second relay clicks, red tube tries to fire (small flash inside yoke) and then set shuts down. any help to firgure this out would be great or some place i can purchase a power board if its bad.
p.s i realy think i need larry on this one he seems to know these better than mitsubishi lol
not your power board . bad picture tube . chaeck connections on tube that is flashing or take board on bottom of tube off one at a time until it stops going into protection. that is the bad tube or connection.
dont think that is the problem unpluged red tube now all i get is code 23 i think deflection fault? i talked to the guy that i got this set from he said the repair guy changed a chip on the board so i looked around and found he changed the flyback driver chip #str-f6428s and then tv worked but he said he was going to need convergence chips soon about a week later the tv just wouldnt turn on so he asked if i wanted it. nothing looks bad on red tube board or green or blue
code 23 is the horizonal deflection circuit. so if u got code 23 its the flyback transformer. u may need convergence chips also. but 23 means hv deflection.
plug the tube back in and see if u get 21 again if u do it is the tube.
yes tube unpluged get 23 tube pluged in get 21 tube flashes dim glow just befor shutdown activated any idea of where to get a new tube?
i wouldnt buy one . it cost to much. and to put in and align, its no joke unless u have done it a couple of times. see if u can find the same tv or one from the same year that needs fixing on craiglist.org. it may take a few days or a week or two. i pick up rear projecti hdtv's on there for 0-100 dollars that need fixing and fix them
