Hi,
I am looking to purchase an LCD TV and have some questions, hope someone can give me some guidance.
I would like to get a 42" tv to use almost exclusively as a computer monitor, I would run cable to the tv (no HD cable box, just basic cable) for occasional use but mainly as a monitor. I would like to run 1 desktop computer and two laptop computers into a switch and use the tv as a monitor for one computer at a time. I understand that a KVM switch is the way to go for this, I do not want to use one mouse or keyboard for all three computers, just the monitor. I would still like to have full functionality on each computers own keyboard, mouse and monitor. So question 1. will this work?
Question 2. Will a tv work well at this size as a monitor? I could just get a big monitor but I figure for the price just get a TV and have double bang for the buck in case I wanted to stop using the TV as a monitor and hook it up to direct tv sattelite in place of my current tv. I use the computers for web surfing, ebay, craigslist, email, occasional word or excel docs etc. No gaming or movies really. The Tv I am looking at is a 1080p that says it has a refresh rate of under 5ms. What are some considerations I may not be thinking about?
Has anyone here done this, any specific features or plugs I should be looking for on the Tv, any particular KVM switch that wouldnt cause intereference on the tv? My computers aren't particularly super tech or new but arent too old, any add ons or hardware I would need to add?
Any help would be appreciated but please explain it to me like I'm a fourth grader until I catch on
Thanks
