I've read Larry Dillon's excellent articles and posts on this forum and also read about his recent surgery. If Larry is "tuned in" - I wish you the very best of luck and a quick recovery.
I've read a lot here about bad capacitors in these sets and also the bad convergence chips, but my convergence was fine when the set abruptly powered down while being watched, so I'm suspecting capacitors.
If anyone can offer any advice before I crawl behind my set, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm a retired tech and I have the Mits service manual. Here's the symptoms - It powers on and shows green LED for 3 sec then shuts off with audible relay clicks. Immediately after connecting to AC power, green LED flashes 3 times, indicating “microprocessor has initialized and is functioning”. Holding INPUT & MENU buttons shows error code 22, indicating “short protect circuit”.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
