My Sony KP-46WT500 developed a convergence problem a couple of weeks ago. The +- 22V supplies were around +- 28.5V and the +-15V had nothing.
Some probing around found Diode 5008 and 5009 shorted (reverse resistance of 0.7-1 ohm). Since it's highly likely that the diodes failure was caused by something else, what else should I be looking for?
Have you Replaced the Convergence IC'S ? IF so hope you used Originals and not cheap china made after markets.
I did, perhaps unnecessarily.
I need some educated guess on what caused the diodes to short out.
Most likely one of the STK'S were shorted Replace the diodes and check PS5006 & PS5005 for OPEN both are 5amp pico fuses if you used Original STK'S to replace the old one's that should fix the problem .
PS5005 and PS5006 on my G board are just jumper wires, which may explain why the diodes got hit. Are there other usual suspects that I should replace along with the diodes?
