OK. So I received Larry's papers on how to replace the capacitors
and realized I was in over-my-head. Never soldered anything before, so I
did not want to make bad situation worse.
So I called in the TV guy. He came out replaced the same
capacitors as suggested in these forums, but to no avail. He
even tried replacing the power and lamp and still nothing. Just the
ominous blinking green light...
Now he thinks the whole DM board has gone bad... But low and behold,
he said this board is no longer made. He suggests getting the current
board refurbished... YEAH!!!!
Do these forums feel I proceed with getting the board refurbished? He
said this could run about 300+ this does not include the work he already
did for $245... For the amount this is costing, I'm nearing new
TV-Land. Are there sites, where a DM board can be bought? What
about refurbished boards? Should I even continue with trying to get this fixed?
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Have you contacted Mitsubishi customer service? I had my set completely tore apart and was just about to replace my caps in my set and I emailed Mitsubishi about my DLP having the same problem with caps. They called the closest authorized repair shop today for me. I dropped my tv off at the shop in a bunch of pieces. They are to get back with me this week on the findings. I was also told that Mitsubishi has offered to pay for some of the repairs on these sets. It's a case-by-case basis. I'm not exactly holding my breath for this. But, it is another option. If they won't pay enough, I'll just try the cap change on my own.
