We have a sony projection tv KP-48V75, convergence went haywire after my son hit screen. There was a bowing in frm top & bottom. For awhile it would fix by my hubby hitting it, then tapping the metal things with slats where the ic chips are. One of the 2 metal things was no longer attached to frame, it just leaned forward. The other one my son tried to fix , and hit too hard where the slats on the end no longer had spaces between them but pressed together. The tv pic stayed bowed this time, couldnt correct it. Later the little cylinder resisters started smoking.
I called a repairman, he mentioned ic chips. What do the ic chips do and did it have something to do with the smoking, the metal thing /slats was really hot right before the smoking
