I was thinking about buying a new HD Projector Any advice?

Im looking at buying a new HD Projector.  Do they work as good as advertised or are they junk?  I would think the glare coming in my windows would affect the picture.  Is the picture quality as good as advertised.

Hi Kindle,

Hi Kindle,

There are many things to consider here. For starters, the HD projector market is enormous... there are several different kinds of projection technologies, hundreds and hundreds of different kinds of screens, etc. It's tough to give you specific answer... there's just so much to consider.

However, here goes:

Do they work as advertised or are they just junk?

Like in the world of TVs, some look good... some don't. All projectors do work as advertised, they project motion video.

Is the picture quality as good as advertised?

It certainly can be. Some look better than others given certain conditions, types of screens, and room lighting. It's about picking the right combination for your room, and how much money you can invest. Getting a great projection system can be a bit on the costly side, but I don't know what your standards are.

You won't get glare from your windows with a projector, but the screen will get washed out with direct and bright indirect sunlight. You'll want some form of lighting control (blinds, curtains, etc) if you're going to do a projection system.

I really dont want to spend

I really dont want to spend more than 2,500. Do you have any clue as to who has the best quality projector. I have to get another tv because mine went out after a near by lightning strike took it out and it wont come back on. I bought a service manual for it but the way I read the manual my micro processor is broke. It says if the power light dont flash then the micropocessor is malfunctioning. I couldnt find anyone to tell me how to figure out which processor it could be or how much one will cost so i guess i wil junk it and get a new one. I hate to see it go.

Hey bud,

Hey bud,

Let me clarify something. Are you looking for an HD projector (i.e. projector and screen combo) or a rear-projection HDTV, like a DLP rear pro?

kindle
no im talking about the

no im talking about the projector where you cast the tv image on a wall or a screen. Im out of the notion of the projector but i still am getting a new tv...so which is better DLP or LCD i have looked at the 65"mitsubishi DLP but not sure which is better or more dependable
