I'm having a convergence issue similiar to others have had on here but slightly different. When I first turn on my TV, it appears to be in focus then within a couple of minutes the red and blue guns appear to shift out of alignment. I can use the auto focus feature and most of the time it fixes it. Sometimes it requires multiple attempts to fix. Even when I fix it with the auto focus feature, it will go out of alignment within a few seconds to sometimes a few minutes.
The interesting part of this is that after about 15 to 20 minutes, I can use the auto focus feature again and it will stay focused for as long as I have the TV on. So this tells me that whatever causes the ray guns to stay put is only working once the TV is warmed up. The TV has not been moved in the past year so it's not caused by movement. Any ideas why? Would it be best to just pay someone to fix it or do it myself? Also, what would it might cost to fix? I have some electronics knowledge and feel comfortable with basic soldering techniques so I wouldn't mind attempting to perform the work myself.
Sounds like you may have a problem with the AD Board Part # A1302179A its the Digital Convergence Module it stores the DATA that is sent to the STK's for alignment of the 3 colors
I solved the problem. I guess I got lucky and solved it by simply cleaning the lenses of the three CRT guns. I noticed quite a bit of dust built up on them and tried to use a can of compressed air but that didn't work. So I just used a soft dry cloth and wiped all the dust off. I had to use the auto focus feature when I first turned it on but it has been fine ever since. That was about a week ago. The picture is also amazing now too. It's so vivid now. I thought it looked somewhat muted lately (when it was focused) but now all I can say is wow! What a difference! I guess I should start cleaning the lenses at least once a year to keep the picture so vivid.
Hi
I am afraid that you might have an intermittent problem becose the dust on crt
do not have anything to do with your problem
