This tv seems to work ok after it warms up about 15 minutes. Before the 15 minutes there are squigly lines that run through the middle and top of screen. I replaced both IC's with genuine sanyo recommended by larry's post here.
Can anyone help diagnois this problem?
Bad capacitors in the power supply. The best way to see what caps are going is look for buldging at the tops or check each one with an ESR meter.
ok, so do I pull the power supply out and test each capacitor on the power supply board? I have a In circuit ESR Meter. can I get away with testing each lead on top of the board with the legs of the capacitor?
larry, does this sound like a common issue with the caps going bad and what I have described?
Thanks in advance
Yes you can check the caps on the solder side of the board without taking out the cap from thew board. Also, while your in the set, check the sweep board too. If that set had a small stand up PIP board check those capacitors as well.
Larry,
Took both boards out, tested all caps on the power supply and found that (C551 & C531) appeared dead with the ESR meter, with no reading whatsoever. They are 160v 2.2uf. I also replaced C981 as it measured low (about 7).
I called radio shack and they didnt have any 160v 2.2uf, all they had was as high as 50v. Is there somewhere online I can order these caps without having to order a ton of them?
Thanks
Sure you can get these from Digikey electronics. The capas i have used are these
