Mitsubishi VS 4551A Problem

Hello,

My Mitsubishi Rear projection TV has a problem where it will only "click" when you hit the power button on or off.  No sound, picture or power light. Any suggustions? I have already check the "only" 4 fuses I found. The diagram shows 7-8 but I only have 4. (all good)

You will need to check the

You will need to check the standby voltages as well as the switched power supply voltages. This set is very common to have bad capacitors in the main power supply. if you are unable to check the capacitors with the proper test equipment, I'm afraid this is not the repair that you can take care of. My best advise is to call out a pro to assist you in this repair.

Thanks Larry...I believe you

Thanks Larry...I believe you hit the nail on the head...if I had a pro come over and show him/her you think it would be a costly fix? I was going to purchase a Newer TV in the next 6 months but I was hopeing this one would last until then. What would you recommend for a replacemnet TV as in longevity? With all this new technology I just can't keep up..:-)

Unfortunately, I have not

Unfortunately, I have not found ANY of the new technology that has any kind of longevity you speak of. I have had two LCD TVs and a plasma TV in the past ten( 10) years. My best advise i can give, buy what you like or what is in your budget BUT remember to include in the cost of the set an extended warranty. That is the best investment you can make in an expensive set now a days. I did not think this was true 10 years ago, as TV sets( and I still have one from 14 years ago) needed an extended warranty back then have seen 4 grand TV sets go bad after 2 years and cost 1300 to 1500 bucks to repair. If you had an extended warranty that cost lets say 500 bucks or so. it more then payed for itself. This is one reason Sony is discontinuing to make LCD projection TV sets as they are having major problems with light engines that have been going bad after 14 months or so. So stay away from any BARGIN sales of Sony TV projection sets. Unless you get an extended warranty with it. Good luck
