sir i have tried to manually adjust the convergence on my sont rear projection. replaced the ic chips and the power 5a fuse. things look good except for the blue adjustment. the convergence blue moves up and down but not left or right. what are the possibilities. thanks carl
Open resistors in the blue circuit. Without a model number I would be guessing on which ones are bad. Or perhaps you purchaced aftermarket IC's. That would also cause your problem. Cheap IC's.
thanks for the responce. the model number is sony kp43ht20. i bought the ic from blue star. i have no idea if these are cheap ones. before i jumpered the 5a fuse i had no convergence. after the jumper i got convergence with adjustments with all except blue verticle movement. i have another ic and could change the one on the left again (as you look into the chassis). i assume that one controls the blue. all the other fuses on the ic board check out ok. the outside edges are the problem with a blue outline on subjects. thanks i will wait for an answer. carl
Dont Jumper fuses, you can cause a fire!!!!
I would re-check the solder first. Everyting is fused on that unit. I would double check the fuses on d-board. pay special attn to the blue convergence fuses ps8004 and ps8006
i replaced the 5a fuse everything is good except the blue verticle movement...i have another ic should i try and replace the new one with another new one. the fuses 8004 and 8006 are good as best i can tell. what is next. thanks good job so far. carl
Change both IC's at once! One IC controls the blue, red, and the green vertical and the other IC controls the blue, red, and green horizontal.
i did change both of them all ready. i have control horz./vert. on green/red. blue has no vert. control, so are you saying i should change them both again.....thanks i will wait for your responce.
Do you have a schematic for that set man? If you do not, i would highly advise you to get on. One is available under the technicians corner here at techlore under the resources tab. If you look at the schematic, you will see that IC 8002 is the vertical control for the blue. The most likely fault, in order is first PS8006, You need to check it for continuity, you cannot tell if it is bad by looking at it. Then check R8090, R8092, R8094, R8098, R8106 for 4.7 ohms, sometimes these do not burn, you will need to check them with an ohm meter. Then check R8101, a 120 ohm @ 3 watts return resistor. Then there is a slight possibility that R8004, a 100 ohm chip resistor opened up. Then if all of these are good, the IC8002 is bad, or the feed from the digital board is bad or the digital convergence is bad. That's everything that controls the blue vertical.
Did you check them with a meter ? - if not you can't tell if they are good just by looking at them.
i have checked all components as of my last note with a meter. i still have some other components to check resistors etc. hope to get to them soon. thanks for the thought. carl
