Hello,
I have a Sony KP-43HT20 with a convergence problem and just received the replacement STK392-560 IC which I have not installed yet. I checked all the pico fuses on the D board as well as on the G Board and they all checked OK, which I thought was unusuall since all other posts stated they will be opened. This is the point where I'm questioning if the convergence IC are the main issue or something else. I also noticed a part on the D board located all the way on the front left of the board which looks like a light bulb (nl8001), has a capacitor symbol and apears blackened as if it is burned. Same part is on the very right board as well it too lokes burned. I checked the continuity and it's an open. So, I guess my question is what is that part and could this be part of the problem?
Here is some pics:
it's the component between two red caps.
Thank You!
No, it is suppose to check open my friend. That is a neon lamp and it is used as a spark gap. I have seen these short in the past, but if it measures no continuity, it is not your problem.
Thank you very much for your response.
Do you known if it's possible, if the convergence IC are damaged that no pico fuses open.
Yes it happens all the time. Sometimes the IC will open in the power section of the Chip and not short out as they do most of the time. OR perhaps the IC's have bad connections on them because they tend to run hot before they blow out.
I installed the convergence IC and everything is back to normal.
I really apreaciate your responses.
Thank you!!!
Great news man. Always good to hear of another success story.
