Hitachi 50DX10B

I just tried to hook up the right speaker to an old jvc audio receiver when the inside of the back of the television started flashing blue in coordination with a steady high pitched beeping. After 3 or 4 blink/beeps the picture went out but the blinking/beeping continued along with a burning smell. I unplugged the television and the speaker wire but as soon as i try to plug in the power again the green led's on the middle of the bottom board and the power light begin flashing along with the beeping. I am not able to turn the television on. Any idea what the problem may be and whether or not a home repair is possible?
