Strange problem w/ RP Samsung HCL 4715W (not typical convergence problem)

Hi,

I came to the forum in reviewing my new plasma purchase, but still would like to salvage the old TV, it's a Samsung rear projection w/ 3 projectors, model HCL 4715W.

In researching problems, many people seem to have a convergence issue, and when showing pics, show severe bowing and multi-layer images of different colors, etc., but that's not my problem (knock on wood)

My problem seems to be two-fold:

1) First I noticed the image was gosting, if that's the right word, so let's say there's a person on the left side of the screen, the blueish/white negative of the image ghosts a few inches or more to the right side. It seems the lighter colors ghost on darker colors to the right side, so often the overall image looks halfway decent, you can't pinpoint anything terrible, but when there are dark portions of the screen, whatever is to its left is ghosted over the darker area.

2) I seem to have lost some of my lines of resolution, whether in HD or SD, I can see (very small, mind you) lines in the resolution that I did not used to see.

Most people would notice the ghosting, but non video people may overlook the lines, but I can see them.

I know messing w/ the wrong stuff inside the cabinet is dangerous, but I have seem the tech take the tv apart before when it was under service. I'd like to take it apart to clean it at some point anyway, thought I could get some advice on what to look for, or if it's an easy swap of a part/chip, etc...

Not sure it's worth getting a tech out to look at, but if anyone has recommendations in the NC/SC area for techs, I could get a quote, but I'd really like to see if I can resolve on my own w/ some help.
