Panasonic tv powers off

My Panasonic projection tv was powering off and would not come back on.  Service man came out and stated that I need a flyback transformer.  Just fixed it for $350 after making two trips to my home as the first time he said he received the wrong part.

Two hours after he left....tv powers OFF again.  Called repair man and he stated for me to turn the power surge supply off, let it sit for a minute then try powering the tv on as there may have been a glitch.  It did come back on but so far it has powered off four other times.  He will be back out tomorrow to take a look.

My question is...Does anyone know if this flyback transformer is the part I needed for what I have described?  I just have a wierd feeling about this guy.  I mean, my tv does stay on now for spurts which before you could not get it to power on at all, but I just paid $350 for something that is not totally fixed!  Now I asked my husband if he thought that having the power surge protector plugged into the same outlet as the Christmas Tree could have anything to do with this as this situation has occured since our tree has been put up.  He told me it would not have anything to do with it.  Just thought I would ask.

Need some advice or suggestions if anyone can help!

Thanks in advance!

You could have a regulation

You could have a regulation problem in the power supply, or possibly a bad connection somewhere on the board that is causing your set to shut down. I doubt very much that the power strip being connected to something else would cause this to happen. Let us know what the tech tells you. Good Luck

Thanks for the information.

Thanks for the information.  The tech says he cannot find anything else wrong as after replacing the Flyback Transformer, the tv still occasionally shuts off.  He says it could be a number of things like you mentioned.  Where we are going to start right now is..order another flyback.

We bought the tv from someone online and just noticed there is no model number anywhere.  The first bad flyback does have a Panasonic item number on it but when the tech order the replacement from his supplier, they sent a flyback that looks ALMOST identical but has a different number.  It has made the tv power on (which would not happen before) but like I said it periodically powers off, then it will power back on.  So we are not certain this flyback is for our specific tv so we are going to take a long shot and order the exact part number from Panasonic to see if that solves the problem.  The tech actually was a lot more reasonable than I imagined as he stated that if this other flyback does not work, he will give us all of our money back except for $50. but then were back to square on in trying to figure out why it keeps doing this.

Yep, the wrong flyback could

Yep, the wrong flyback could certainly cause this problem your talking about.

We will know for sure on

We will know for sure on Thursday as that is when the Panasonic part will be in.  Panasonic also confirmed that the current part in there (from tech's supplier) is for a 57".  We have a 47".  Keep your fingers crossed that this new part solves the problem!

Thanks again for the help!
