kp53v85 dark screen

I have tried the menu controls (picture and brightness) and allthough they do work, either the screen is too bright in the background (whites) and the foreground (faces etc...) are too dark and you cant make them out. When I go the otherway to correct the background, the set is just too dark. Picture is clear and good color but in dark scenes where I can see them on another set, they cant be made out on kp53v85. Is there something I can do in the service mode to change this? I had problems with the focus and too much red in the past and have corrected those problems and I dont know anything about most of the service mode abbreviations so I dont mess around with them. Any advice on this problem?
