Toshiba tp50h60 wont power on

hi guys, when i plug the unit in, it automatically shuts down.i dont have to hit the power button and the red led blinks.i can hear what sounds like the tubes trying to heat up? checked fuses,dont see burnt spots on boards and from what ive read a digital conv. board may be bad. any ideas, i'd hate to junk my tv.thanks and merry christmas!

Merry Christmas to you to. There are a couple of things that can cause this problem. First thing to do is try and find the two big power supply capacitors marked C809 and C810. Make sure that the negative side of these capacitors is not loose and unsolder ed. If one of them is, resolder the lead and replace fuse F860. If this does not look like this is the problem, unsolder the convergence IC's and see if this is the problem. Most of the time though the IC's are shorted and both has to be replaced as a pair. You might be able to see the problem. But if the capacitors do not have a bad connection, and if the one fude I told you to change is not blown, you will need to have someone who knows how to solder on printed circuit boards, as on the PCB's, you cannot use acid core solder of that type of flux as you do on copper pipes.
