I own a Fujitsu Plasma Display; it's probably 4-5 years old. I recently moved it to a new location in the house. It is connected to a DISH Hi Def DVR and a Denon AV Receiver.
I didn't have it up on the wall more than a week when the picture would go out and the red LED indicator light on it started blinking. I started the process of disconnecting and connecting to see what may be causing the problem. I even took it off the wall and moved it to another location in the house where I have a DISH receiver to see if it made a difference (I left it on for a couple hours and it worked fine).
I decided to give it another try and connected everything back up again, and I even had the DISH people look at it while they were over last week replacing my dish. It started working again without any problems. One day later, the picture went out. I unplugged the set and reset the DVR, and it started working again....until the next day, when it happened again. It seems to be hit or miss and it's getting darn frustrating. Its off right now because I went through the "unplug/reset" cycle and it turned off again after a few minutes of working.
Its off the warranty, and I checked with the shop I purchased it from and they don't know of any service techs that can work on it. I'm a bit ticked off at the shop...I've spent tens of thousands of dollars there the past 10 years and they seem to have abandoned me on this.
Has anyone ever experienced this issue, or does anyone have any advice on where I should go from here?
Thanks in advance.
Have you tried contacting Fujitsu and getting the location of the nearest authorizied service center?
I have the exact same situation with the same unit. Have you found a solution yet?
You can go HERE and find out a lot of information on these sets. Good Luck with your repair.
Yes, I believe I have. I bought a new television (decided to move the Fujitsu to another location if I was able to fix it....it had screen burn in anyway) and made all the connections. I did not get a picture on the new set (Sharp) and then it dawned on me.....I never checked the cables. I used an old component cable I had sitting around, and it worked. I unscrewed the connectors and found that one of them had a short in it. I cannot believe that I never checked the darn cables....I should know better. Sometimes you can't see the forest through the trees.
I had been buying cables online at Bluejeanscable.com, but remembered that I needed this cable quickly so I bought it at best buy. So, in addition to paying the 200% markup that BB uses, their cable caused me 6 months worth of frustration.
My advice would be to test your cables and see what happens.
Thanks!
