RCA HV Splitter

My 55" RCA projection system has a burned High Voltage Splitter.  Model HD52W55, Chasis ATC321, August 2004.

TV is arcing,  smoke smell and doesn't work   TV repair company says new splitter will run $50 to maybe over $100 and that some other components may be damaged as well. Total estimate $300 to $500.

Is a splitter replacement a DIY project or do I need to have it professionally serviced ?  If done myself any tips are appreciated.  At the $900 to $1300 new sell prices it may be better to buy new.  Comments ?   Thanks !    Art
