My Mitsu 5072 projection tv recently started having problems when the power is completely cut off. It started when I unplugged it. When I turned it back on, no picture was displayed and no sound. I can turn the brightness all the way up to get somewhat of a picture. I also have to turn the speaker back on. It requires re-aligning the colors. Once I do all of this, the sound is fine, but the piture is very dim and B&W. For some reason the last few times it did this I was able to get the picture back by unplugging and replugging it back in, or letting it go all day unplugged then plug it back in. In these cases tv goes back to factory settings. Once I get the proper picture back it will stay that way untill tv is unplugged from the wall. Then it starts all over again. Having trouble getting it to work this time.
This TV set is almost 14 years old and most likely has a bunch of bad capacitors in the main power supply as well as the sweep power supply. Will probably be an expensive and time consuming repair. I would seriously think about purchasing a new set before investing several hundred or so into this TV set. Good Luck with your TV set.
Thanks. my tv started working today. It should stay that way if I can avoid unplugging it or a power outage. You're right, a new set would be the way to go.
If the set is intermittant, there are probably bad capacitors as I stated before, and most likely small cracks and bad connection on the prited circuit board.
