I don't have a blinking light, but............. I have an older Mitsubishi VS 4543A that shuts off a few seconds after it turns on. I hear 3 distinct clicks or buzzes from the right side of set (facing back of set) and then it shuts down. Previously the set would take 15 minutes to fully come on, and after the 15 minutes it looked fairly normal. I plan to give the set to a family that can't aford a big screen and am hoping I can fix it.
This is the symptom of a bad capacitor in the power supply or the sweep power supply. You will need to check for bulged tops or leakage around the capacitors in these locations. The longer you wait to repair a problem like this on an intermittent TV set, the more capacitors you will find bad. I repaired VS TV set a few weeks ago and found something like 7 bad capacitors bad, not including the small surface mounted ones on the PIP board. Good Luck
Thanks Larry, I'll look for the caps. You mentioned in other posts to get repair manuals. Where are these found?
You can get that service manual HERE
I have a Mitsubishi VS50707 that does the same thing - as soon as I turn it on it shuts off. Any suggestions?
Get the service manual and start checking the capacitors in the main power supply as well as the sweep power supply. this set is several years old and my be at the end of it's life? It dependeds on how much you are willing to spend on her.
I don't have the service manual but was able to check all the caps for bulges or leakage and nothing found as yet. I pulled the shielded card and checked it also. Any clue as to wich card is the power supply?
Your going to need the service manual. It has been awhile since I have worked on this puppy.
Have the service manual. Found that there is a signal called P-on from the microprocessor which shuts off a power supply relay. Trouble shot all the short circuit signal, xray signal, and AC-on signal. All are in proper regions of operation. No bulging capacitors and power supplies look at correct levels. By-pass the P-on signal and tied it to plus 5 volts stby and still did not turn on main red/green/blue projection lights. Unsure why the P-on is told to turn off power supplies. Any ideas? Tried numerous transitors. All tested proper diode drops.
Check the plus and minus 24 volts when you hit the power switch.See if they come up or not.
I will check that, but what would this tell me? I've noticed the RBG lights are glowing dimly. Thanks.
