I have a RCA DVD/VCR recorder player. Only had it a year. It has been working well till last night I egected a dics and when I went to open the player again it was locked up. The light on the front of the player keeps blinking : Please wait and then hello continually. I unpulged it like the manual said and gave it time to reset. Did'nt work. Tried to reset it from the remote . Did'nt work. I don't know what is going on . Any ideas out there.
My VCR/dvd player will not allow sound whenplaying dvds but does when i play vcrs?

The DVD PLAYER with VIDEO CASSETTE RECORDER is a Model SRD 3900, and is a Sylvania.

Since the source of the sound and video from the DVD is the digital stream, I would have to believe that the problem lies with the switching circuitry for the audio and video tracks. You indicate that both audio and video work for the VCR section. It is possible that the audio D/A converter is bad on the DVD side. Tracking this down will not be easy as both chips I believe are surface mounted on the underside of the board. I'll try to get the service manual for this unit and post additional details, but some of these units are "return for exchange only" pieces and there may not be a service manual available.
