"No Signal" on Blue Screen

Tried to watch a DVD and the screen on the TV was completely blue with "no signal" at the bottom of the screen. We have not done anything to the any of the components since the last time we played a DVD. Cleaned the DVD player-no better. Unpluged the TV from the outlet, no change. Bought new DVD player-no change. Is the TV shot? It works just fine for regular cable channels. SR

Without a make and model of either component, little specific information can be provided.  However, most likely the problem is a broken connection at the input of hte TV.  Is there another set of inputs you can try?  For example, some sets have video 1 and video 2.  If video 1 is showing this problem, move the cables to video 2 and try that.  If that works, I'd suspect the input jack being broken internally.  This is usually a bad solder connection that is easily fixed.  If neither input works, than the switching chip/circuit may be at fault.

Please keep us posted.
