Hello, I have a 32 inch Ploaroid LCD that makes a crackle/snapping noise when I turn on the TV. The picture will flicker and eventually will become stable after 5-10 minutes. It's presently being used as a PC monitor, and I've had no problems with it untill just recently. All the cables seem tight and nothing from what I can se has changed. I assume that something is dying, and I am wondering if I should even bother with getting this repaired. Any sugguestions as to what it could be? And is it something that a fairly technical guy could replace. Thanks all.
Most likely there is a bad connection inside the unit. The snapping/crackling may be sparking. There are high voltages present inside. If this is not fixed soon, there is a possiblity of permanent damage. I would suggest that a service tech take a look if you are not familiar with circuitry repairs. Since the unit "corrects" itself after a while, this would also suggest a bad connection that heat "repairs".
