I have a Samsung HCN553W, and after reading a few of the other threads, I am fairly certain I have a convergence problem. The screen looks as though I need 3-D glasses to watch it, and the top of the screen and the bottom of the screen are bending toward the middle at the center. I believe this is called pin-cushioning. I went to Samsungparts.com and it said the convergence board was no longer available. Anyway, I am not experienced with this type of stuff, but I am a quick learner and can usually figure this stuff out with directions. I haven't done anything yet aside from try to unplug and replug all cords, and also use the TV's perfect focus feature. The perfect focus gets to 8% and then can't complete. Thanks for your responses.
It does sound like a convergence problem. You need to find the two big chips on the board, they are mounted vertically, they will have numbers on them, like STK-392-110 or similar. These go bad. If you can de-solder and solder, you can fix this set. You should not if you are not experienced with this sort of work as you could cause more damage. Also there could be open resistors around these chips that have to be replaced. If you can get someone with some experience, it should be a reasonable repair,
Hope this helps
