My husband and I purchased a television that had been factory refurbished in May 2007 (please see title for brand and model number). Originally the picture was skewed on the set and when it began to right itself, it turned itself off and started producing an alarm clock type beeping sound. This is now all the televison does. It will not turn on or off or even show a picture. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated as televisions are outside are realm of electronics knowledge.
i have never worked on a Sansui, If someone else here has. They will probably be a better source for you than me. But i am a technician. Can you read schematics and follow circuit diagrams? if so you need to get a schematic. I can help direct you through the diagnostic. But, you have to have some basic electronic knowledge, and a dvm along with the service manual.
First off that noise you are hearing, could either be some kind of coding coming through the speakers i suppose. or More likely a coil vibrating in the set. That would be my first guess, The pulsating of the horizontal signal is probably causing the coil to make a noise, then pause, and make another noise as the horizontal circuit re-sets and trys to start the flyback again. But that is only a GUESS.
I did a little research and found a common problem with that set. This is a problem that allot of servicers have but may not be your problem. But with the description you are giving it is a good bet. T401 is a horizontal transformer, they report allot of problems with this part. The part number is 0450190161, Fox Electronics. That is something you can try quickly. But Again troubleshooting may be needed if this does not solve your problem.
