Hey guys alright so the problem is I have a sony kp-57ws500 that two chips on the motherboard or whatever you may call it, have burned up so I was wondering two things. 1) what would be the best place to buy a replacement? 2) Would this be a job that I could do myself or with a little help ( i know my way around a computer and a lot of electrical things)? just wondering if its a hard job to replace the motherboard?

It is not called a motherboard. There are several boards in the television, and sony uses a letter designation for the board, which board are you talking about? and what are the symptoms? In most cases except for "B" board or "A" board (depending on the model) usually get repaired or can be sent in for replacement, if you want to go that route. A or B board will almost always get replaced as opposed to repair. Most older televisions ( i think yours may qualify), sony calls it a "phase 3 board" meaning that no new or repaired boards are available and you have to send the panel to them to get it fixed. Another source for boards is PTS. They will either do an exchange or a repair depending on their stock and if they support the board you are needing.

I have a sony kp_57ws500 with green tube off, I pulled front speaker cover off and was going to switch boards around to see what the problem was, pulled the board off the tube and noticed a resistor (r7217) that is burnt. Is this just a resistor problem or something else.
Hey it could be. I replaced the CR board which is the board at the end of the red crt because mine would not come on. Now it turns on almost immidiatly.
Also the above tv I am parting out where would I post that?

No I am sorry if i gave that impression. I meant is there another website or other place that people know of that I could list the things for sale? Like a classified forum for tvs.
