Toshiba 53hx71 convergence issue

I have a Toshiba 53hx71 projection tv that I purchased 5 years ago. At the end of Aug., the picture was fine in the morning and when I went to turn it on later that day, the screen looked like I should be wearing 3D glasses. It was a convergence issue for sure. I tried the touch focus with no luck. I called a repair man who after 5 min of checking things in the back of the set told me it was the convergence and that it would cost me $475 plus tax to repair it over the $100 I was paying for him to look at it.

Well, I have decided to fix it myself. I have tinkered with electronics here and there and repaired/ upgraded my computer so why not. I have been reading up in the forums and think I can do it. I know I need to replace the convergence module and know where it is but not sure of part number. On parts.com, there are 2 items it could be but not sure which one to purchase. They are : DIG/CONV PD0078E (  23786523) or PCB DIG PD0078F ( 23786726) .

I have tried to find the repair manual online with no luck on my model number. Any input would be great. My husband is no help and hockey season has already started. He is suck watching games on the 20 in lcd in kitchen.

I have the same tv with the

I have the same tv with the same problem. I did some research and found a site called www.tvrepairkits.com They seem to know the problem and have a kit for it. When I first went on the site they didn't have the kit for my model. I then e-mailed them and they then added the kits on the site. I don't know if it's a new site nor if I should trust making a transaction. However, there are some consumer posts who seemed really content with the user friendly kits. The kits cost around $70.00 I'm still debating on trying it out. Check out the site and see how you feel about it. Hope this helps.
