Channel interference on TV

I have a sony XBR V Trinitron 36 inch TV.

Recently when watching a channel eg. 33 another cahnnel namely 4 appears as a disturbance. The audio is still that of channel 33. This happens when I switch to other cahnnels, eg 8, 11 etc.

The TV is about 4 yrs old. The other 2 Sony TVs in the house has not yet displayed any such problem.,

Is the TV in need of repair?

Any comments will be appreciated.

Thanks

Possiably, if your other tv's

Possiably, if your other tv's are not exibiting this problem. if i were repairing it i would try a new tunner unit if i can verify the problem.

Can you please post the model

Can you please post the model number.  While this sounds like a tuner problem, a power supply problem can cause symptoms like this too.  With the model number, I can research this a bit and perhaps narrow it down some.   Larry, any other suggestions?

I am out of town and what I am quoting may not be very accurate. It is a SOny VegaXBR36V450. Basically it is a 36 inch Vega XBR V series.  When I get back home I can post the exact model number.

Thank you for your response.

I thought this could be a tuner problem. This TV has several inputs. I was thinking of hooking up a VCR to one of the inputs and then get the signal through the tuner in the VCR and see what happens. Also I also have Dishnetwork. However even when Dishnetwork which comes on channel 73 was connected the problem seemed to occur. I plan to try different  hook ups and see what happens.

Thanks for your reply

Try and use the Aux inputs of

Try and use the Aux inputs of the TV set man. I have a 36" TV set someone gave me years ago because of a bad tuner and I hooked up the dish network through the aux input and this has been working great for all this Time! Simply take a set of patch cords, red , white, and yellow, and plug those into the back of the dish receiver, then take the other ends and plug those into the back of the TV set aux inputs, or line in, to the proper colors and make sure you remember to switch to the correct input on the TV set. Good Luck, and let us know if this helps you out.

I am back home. The model

I am back home. The model number of the TV is: KV-36XBR450. I also notice that even when the cable hook up is disconnected and I watch Dish Network on this TV that is hooked up to the "ANT" input of this TV (On channel 73) I still have the problem with the picture. The most frustrating thing is that the problem is intermittent and seems to be getting worse. Initiall the interferenced freezes the picture or scrambles it. The audio still comes through. I believe I will have to call Sony for repair, and it is out of warranty and it is too heavy a TV to be taken to a repair shop. Thanks, and any suggestions welcome. Raj

PROBLEM SOLVED! The problem

PROBLEM SOLVED! The problem was solved. I went to the Sony website and logged on to support for the TV using live chat. The person told me to disconnect the power cord and wait for one minute to reset the TV and then reconnect it. It appears that hte problem is solved. The interference was affecting not only the TV channels but also the DVD and Dish network hookups. Thanks for all the people who responded to my querry. Raj Warrier
