need help with mitsubishi wt-42313

I have owned a Mitsubishi 42" projection TV (WT-42313) since 2003, and until now I have experienced zero problems.  While watching TV (cable on or off) red tint/shadows appear on the screen.  Text is still readable, people look like people, etc. but only red!   This comes and goes but never when I first turn the TV on.  It usually takes a good 10 minutes.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!

Is it the entire screen that

Is it the entire screen that has a red shade to it or is it kind of like the picture is in 3-D, like if the convergence is out on the TV set? If this problem comes and goes, it is possible that there is only loose connections on the printed circuit boards and if repaired right away, it would certainly cost you less then if you let the set finally go bad. Let us know please.

I guess it is like the picture is in 3-D.  Almost like images are shaking a little to the right--hard to describe.  Thanks.

What I am asking if the

What I am asking if the outlines are different colors or if the entire screen is a different color? You did not answer my question. I cannot help you if you are no specific!

outlines are red, not the entire screen.

You have what sounds like the

You have what sounds like the convergence IC's are going bad and will need to be replaced. These IC's are soldered into a printed circuit board, so if you have no soldering experience on printed circuit boards, play it safe and call in an authorized repair shop to replace these IC's. This repair should not cost you more the 300 bucks or so, or you are getting ripped off. The original replacement ICs will cost under 30 bucks with the shipping for the IC's. This model uses the STK394-250 IC's. They are designated on the printed circuit board as IC8C01, and IC8C02. You can purchase them from HERE in case you want to replace them yourself. Yes you can by non-Sanyo ICs for a lot less money, but these other IC's are cheapo China made IC's that are ether factory rejects or cheapo aftermarket parts. Use Only original replacement IC's. All IC's are not alike even with the same numbers on them. Good Luck

thanks for your help.

I also have a WT-42313

I also have a WT-42313 Mitsubishi that displayed that convergence problem after warming up. Per the suggestions above I replaced the two convergence chips that are located on the large heat sink. STK 394-250. Install went well. Powered on then adjusted the convergence. Picture never looked better, but once again after warmup convergence went out. What are the secondary suspects in the convergence circuitry? Thanks alot!!!!

One possibility is a coolant

One possibility is a coolant contamination of the circuit board, if its the one having the convergence components, ie, the IC's and/or the convergence digital module. Very difficult sometimes to actually see or detect.
Another possibility is a bad connection somewhere on the board.
Unlikely, though possible, is a return resistor changing value as it warms. Inspect the two watt low ohm resistors near the IC's and if they are discolored, change them.
Good luck!
