I cant hear

I own a 46" GE television, I recently got a digital cable box a week ago. I turned my TV Off on Friday and woke up to no sound. There was sound when I turned on the DVD and the VCR, but then I called myself "rewiring" the cables and now there is no sound period! When I go to the audio speakers on my menu it says that the variable auto output speakers are off? Can you help me trouble shoot or diagnose this problem. THe cable tech came out yesterday and did not know what was wrong with it! FUrther more how much will it cost to get repaired?

Hi there TV owner, can you

Hi there TV owner, can you give a bit more insight on what components you have and more importantly how they are all wired up?

Thanks for your reply! I have a digital cable box and a DVD/VCR Combo.  The cable box is hooked up to the DVD player and the DVD player is hooked up to the TV set.  I unhooked the cable box and bypassed the DVD and just ran the cable wire directly from the wall to the TV set and there was still no sound! At first I could hear a "buzz" noise when I attempted to turn the volume up, but now that noise is gone as well! I have no idea what is wrong. I have sound on all of my other TV sets. I was watching TV and the sound just stopped.
