I have an RCA wide screen (34") TV/DVD combo that is a couple of years old. The top of the picture has begun to be cut off. What one sees is not "narrowing" (that is there is no black void at either the top or the bottom. It is as if someone has turned the angle of the camera down so one would miss the top of the original but see more at the bottom. Ideas? Thanks.
There are capacitors in the vertical output circuit that are most likely going bad and will get progressively worse with time. These are soldered into place and you will need a special meter to check these with. My advice would be to take the set into an RCA repair shop and get an estimate. Good Luck
Pressing the zoom button fixed the problem.
Yea that would of course fix it temporally if there is a vertical circuit problem. Or could you have had the zoom on and did not know it? These problems are suppose to be worked out already. But as long as you figured it out, cool.
