i have a sony kp65wv600, i just had a service tech come out to repair the convergence amplifiers and the price seemed astronomical for the problem. i was wondering how much the convergence amps cost for this tv. also if anyone has a repair suggestion please advise. when i turn my ty on you can see red lines when the screen is black, when the picture arrives it is distorted horizontally at the top and bottom of the screen.
this model of TV set uses the STK392-560 IC's in the convergence board. If you know how to solder and work on printed circuit board, this repair is not a hard one to do. You should use the original IC with the word SANYO printed on the face of it. A lot of service techs use the cheap aftermarket types, as they cost a lot less then the original. The original Sony part number cost about 35 bucks a piece, and there are two of them. The original Number, that is also an original SANYO part, cost about 15 bucks from mcmelectronics.com Good Luck with this repair, and let us know how it turns out for you.
