I have a viewsonic VP171s connected to a PC running Windows XP service pack 2.
During a virus scan (zone alarm) the display suddenly became black. All leads were secure and neither computer or monitor had been moved. On re-booting the PC a display appeared for about 0.2 seconds. I then switched off the monitor (using button on the flat panel) and after about two seconds a normal display (microsoft welcome screen, all icons loaded etc) appeared but this only lasted a fraction of a second.
I am currently using a laptop, which for various reasons I am unable to connect to the vp171s so I am unable to do the obvious trouble shooting.
Can anyone suggest if this is a PC or monitor problem.
Help will be appreciated.
