thx MOtvGuy, I found the fuse and it is OK. the degausser seems to get power when i plug it in, but no response at all with set ON or remote ON.
This is headed for pick-up ... too bad. This was mfg 2004. I still have others mfg in 1986, 1993, and 1998 working fine in the same storm. Oh well, it was only $120 and I used it for 2 1/2 years.
Yes, there's a fuse inside. Whether that's all that's wrong with it is another matter.

Check Diodes rectifier and filter caps .
