I have a Sony KP57WV700. The problem I have just started. On the left hand side there is a blue shadow. I try the Auto Convergence but this did not help. I also try the manual Convergence but it does not let me move the blue cross far enough to merge with the white Cross. I’m thinking it’s the Convergence amp IC. Have has anyone ever seen this problem and know how to fix?
Thanks!
Yes, you are correct!. The problem you are having is indeed the convergence amp IC's. You should replace or have both convergence IC's replaced with the original number IC and not any subs. To repair this, you will need to locate the STK IC's. Then you will need to order new ic's, unsolder the old IC's from the printed circuit board, and before you install the new IC's into the board and carefully resolder all of the pins on both IC's, you must coat the backs of the new IC's with heat sink compound. Then double check your work and clean up the connections before appliing power to the TV set. If you have no solid state repair experience, play it safe and call in an Authorized Sony repair center to do this for you. Good Luck and let us know how you make out with this TV set.
Thanks for the reply. My main concern is the high voltage in the TV. Also is this a hard part to solder? Is the IC Chip located on the D board?
I have a KP-57WV600, and I am constantly having to adjust the auto convergence. It is getting worse. When it started, I had to do it once a week or so, now it is every 5 minutes, and it never is perfect. These ICs seem to be the hot topic. Will that most likely be my problem? If so, I would like to get them and put them in. If I could get a manual, that would be awesome!
Sorry but I do not have a manual for this TV set. You can get one from HERE If you have no electronic experience or have not worked or soldered onm a solid state printed circuit board, play it safe and call in a tech to assist you in this repair. Good Luck
