Windows Help

Hi,

When I open up anything like Internet Explorer, or MS Word and click for the item to be minimized, it disappears.  If I do ctrl-alt-del, then I can see the item in my task menu.  Why is this happening and how do I get it to stop?

Thanks for any help.

Yolanda, thats what the

Yolanda, thats what the minimize button does, it minimizes and puts it on the task line at the bottom of the screen where the start button is.  If you want to simply make the open program smaller so you can see other things on the desktop, click on the middle button right next to the minimze button , and thats called the restore down button.  Hope this clears up any confusion.

Hi Larry,

Hi Larry,

I understand about minimize, but the item is not at the bottom of my screen next to the start menu.  That's what I don't understand.  Where is it going?  It's still open, because when I click on MS Word again, it will say Document 2, or Document 3, etc. if I haven't saved my work.  I think its something my two neices did, but I don't know what because this has never happened before.  How can I restore so I can see the list of programs open minimized at the bottom of my desktop?  Thanks again.
