Experiencing an occasional "blackout" or no video picture (audio is present) with my rear projection HDTV. This is a Mitsubishi WS55907 purchased approximately 7 years ago. The blackouts occur every 2-3 nights and recovery is from turning the set off, waiting several minutes and turning back on. This is for all inputs. Side note and true story, a couple of months ago we saw a chameleon (small Florida lizard) run across the inside of the TV screen! No clue how it got in there and we assume its days were numbered. A phone call to a TV repair company suggested we wait it out and hope the lizard does not fry itself on a board. Don't know if this has anything to do with the occasional "blackouts". Thanks for your help and suggestions!
This problem could, and is most likely a fault somewhere in the vertical sweep circuit, or maybe the sweep power supply that suppies voltage to the vertical driver/sweep circuit. I have also seen an intermittant fault like this to be caused by a problem in the PIP (Picture in Picture) circuit, or perhaps on the DM board. These sets are not made like they used to be my friend, so they are alot harder to diagnoise and pin down where the exact problem is. I would highly recommend that if you have no solid state repair experience, or do not know or have the knowledge of how differant TV circuits work, Play it safe and call out a trained repair tech to assist you in this repair. Good Luck, and let us know how you make out with thie repair of this TV set.
