Ok, so I got a big RCA projection TV for free, one problem; the screen is red. When you turn it on its basically completely red but then it starts to fade. Not too bad to watch but it has to be on for about 2 hours before then.
What could this be? Is it a project I can tinker with myself and fix or should I break down and spend money to fix it, or should i just get rid of it? If I do need a (dreaded word) repair man, how much will it run me?
Well my friend, you are asking me basicly what is the secrit of life when you ask me these quetions and not telling me how old this TV set is, what is the model number and how much you are willing to spend on the set? Also how much TV repair experience do you have, as I hope do not expect to go in and trouble shoot solid state circuits with no manual or knowledge on how these differant circuits work.. There are alot of differant circuits in these TV sets that hold a large amount of power even when it is unplugged. If you have no TV repair experience my friend, play it safe and call in a pro to assist you. And with the problem you are experiencing, it could run you anywhere from 200 to 600 bucks, depending on the exact problem. Good Luck and let us know if you get the set fixed and what it took to get it repaired
