mp4 player

Help Me! I bought a MP4 player at Christmas and I simply cannot make do anything remotely like download video but worse still I cant even use it as a MP3 as everytime I go into music it shuts itself down! It cam from Japana and the disc and instructions (such as they were ) that came with it had obviously been badly translated as they make no sense.Any suggestions?
