I have a Sony tv 36 KV 35S45 which was working fine and then just shut off one night. The standby light blinks constantly when I turn it on with no picture. The date on the back is Dec 1998. So it didn't make it 10-yrs. I just need to know is this an easy repair, approx how much it might cost me to fix it, and how to find a reputable tv repair shop & any advice you can give me. Thanks Susan
Susan, the Sony TV sets have a way to diagnoise them by how many times the light will flash. it should flash a number of times and pause, then blink again a number of times again and pause, and so on , ECT ECT Let me know what you find out please.
Hi Larry,
I checked the tv again and it just blinks constant, I had my husband check it and he says the same thing. There is no pause in the blinking. If you want me to watch it for a few minutes I can, kinda boring though! :) I am a natural fixit person, that sometimes gets in over my head, & my husband who is a mechanic & fabricator bales me out. He used to fix tube tv's when he was a kid years ago. Larry can you help me????
Susan
This could be a bad picture tube, a bad video IC, or a problem in the sweep power supply.
