JVC LT-32A60SJ

HI, I HAVE A JVC LT-32A60SJ  32" LCD TV GIVEN TO ME BY A FRIEND, THE SCREEN IS CRACKED AT THE BOTTOM, I HAVE FOUND A SUPPLIER FOR THE SCREEN BUT BEFORE I ORDER I WANT TO SORT OUT IF IT IS WORTH IT AS IT WILL NOT AUTO TUNE BUT WILL DO MANUALLY , IT ALSO HAS NO SOUND AND IT WILL NOT OPERATE BY REMOTE CONTROL ( I HAVE CHECKED THE REMOTE AND IT IS FINE ), I DO NOT HAVE A CIRCUIT DIAGRAM FOR THIS BUT FEEL THAT THE CRACKED SCREEN HAS CAUSED A FAULT THAT IS COMMON TO THE REMOTE/THE SOUND AND THE AUTO TUNE .

HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP A RETIRED TV ENGINEER ON THIS , MANY THANKS , PETE

It sounds as there might be a cracked board in the set.  Double check and see if the screen is cracked or the protector screen is cracked if there is one on this TV set.  Complete LCD panel, or the screen, can be very very expensive.    The remote sensor will be covered by a piece of plastic, dark in color.  Look at the set inside first around the top as well as around the bottom of the sTV set for a broken board.  If you do not see a broken board, then there will be other issues with this TV.  GVood luck and let us know what you find with this set.

Hi Larry, the protector screen is ok but the lcd is cracked, it still shows half a picture and you can tune the set manually, checked all boards for cracks, nothing obvious, i suspect that when it was damaged it has took something out (a supply to the auto tuning , the sound output and the remote control ) from the power supply pcb possibly, if i could get hold of a curcuit diagram i could check the voltages, the set retails in the uk for between£650 and £700 and as it is only 6 months old and i can get a lcd screen for £300 it would be worth it ,the set is in as new condition with stand and remote, Many thanks Pete

Hi Larry, i now find that if i use a digital set top receiver and plug it in the scart socket i have sound and picture ok using the set top box remote, the set will tune manually but not on auto tune and no sound when i use the aerial, the tuner fitted to the set is a Partsnic PA2MF72DA  P5E 27S

I have checked the circuit boards for cracks using a magnifying gass and a meter and all looks ok

I hope you have any ideas on this, Pete

The problem is likely due to

The problem is likely due to a bad main board in the unit. That board is basically responsible for everything you've listed as not working.  Not an inexpensive part.  Between that and the LCD panel it'd be just as cheap to buy a new unit unless you can find one on Ebay.

Thanks MOtvGuy, i am looking on ebay, there is obviously a supply problem to the areas not working, im trying to get a manual or disc for this as i have sourced a cheap supplier for the lcd and as it is only 6 months old and in immaculate condition i would like to repair it if possible, (i am from the old school of IT WILL NOT GET BY ME, I WILL FIND THE FAULT BY HOOK OR BY CROOK) within reasonable expense of course, when i find the cause of the non functions i will post it for anyone else to view.

If anyone has found the source of this fault i would appreciate their advice

Many thanks to you all

Pete
